Corporate & Social Events

The thrill begins on boarding your flight. This time you'll turn to the left entering the cockpit rather than the customary turn to the right into the passenger cabin. For the next hour you and your companions - the simulator will hold up to 4 participants - will be the pilot and copilot.

Prior to take-off, with you at the helm, the instructor will explain the instruments' functions, the use of the controls, throttles, reverse thrust, brakes, steering, landing gear, flaps and speed brakes. On overload already? The experience is just beginning. You'll learn how to scan your instruments and level the aircraft by use of the flight and trim controls. You'll land at a mountain airport, then take-off again gaining altitude and soaring over the Columbia Icefields and Glacier National Park. Confidence builds as you master controlling the aircraft.

Shortly thereafter, your instructor will “fast forward” the aircraft to Calgary or Vancouver Airport – or the Airport of your choice - by which time you'll be able to judge your ability to pick up the initial skills required to learn to fly. Your next experience will be night flying: the airport and runway lights will be illuminated and the cockpit will be softly flooded by the city night lights. Another chance to take off, climb to the circuit altitude, make some practice approaches or as we say, “touch and go's”. Night flying will add to the many thrills of learning the procedures to make a safe landing. We can also throw in varying weather regimes, and demonstrate what happens during an approach and landing in adverse weather.

It's guaranteed that you will be completely immersed in the experience of flight simulation. You may even find yourself a little drained or overwhelmed by the realism of the imagery, the excitement, and the concentration that is required of you. The sounds of the aircraft, even the engines themselves, gear and flap extension, warning bells, and piped-in aviation communications with the control tower - all add to heighten your experience.

If you have a fear of flying, having an understanding of just how an aircraft flies may just give you enough insight to calm some of those fears. And if this flight simulation piques your interest, this could be the start of a flying career.

Our aircraft cockpit is self-enclosed and can seat an additional 3 adults or children as well as the pilot and co-pilot. Your Discovery Flight includes your instructor.

Not only an unusual gift but the perfect family outing that will be the talk of the neighbourhood. The time allotted may not be sufficient for families – additional time may be available at the time of your flight at a pro rate of the original hourly rate.
